3 Quick Tips to Prevent Fires This Halloween
10/29/2018 (Permalink)
Time honored traditions around Halloween often consist of the cutting and carving of pumpkins.
As October and Fire Prevention Month comes to an end, practice these safety tips to help ensure that you have a spooky Halloween, not a fiery one!
3 Quick Tips
- Instead of leaving a lit candle unsupervised as you handle all the Halloween festivities, make sure to use a led candle light instead. Or try adding spooky effects like different colored glow sticks.
- Don’t get caught without wearing a flame-retardant costume! From capes, to hats, to a “witch’s broom”, one wrong turn could leave room to something to catching on fire.
- Double think your fall decoration! Scarecrows and bales of hay may add that fall harvest look to your home, but dried material ignite easier and faster than some other decor. Make sure there isn’t any lit candles that could accidentally start an unnecessary fire.
Expect for the Unexpected
When in doubt, make sure that there is a safe path to exit the home as well as fire extinguishers readily available.
